If movies are your life, why not make them your career? A degree in film studies can prepare you to work in the industry you love.
If you wish to get to work right away, you could consider earning an associate degree in one of the technical aspects of filmmaking or TV or video production. You can learn skills such as digital editing, audio production and lighting and find work as a digital video equipment technician, film or digital video editor or video producer.
With a little more time to spend, you could earn a Bachelor of Arts (BFA), encompassing every aspect of filmmaking from screenwriting to directing to producing to cinematography. You may also choose to earn a Master of Arts (MFA) in filmmaking, which will allow you to spend even more time exploring the areas of particular interest to you as you work with a team of fellow students to create, direct and produce your own films.
If your passion lies not in making your own films, but in watching movies made by others, why not consider a degree in cinema studies? In this type of degree program you will concentrate on film theory, history and analysis. Such a background can lead to a career as a film critic, an educator, or in another creative endeavor, such as working in programming for a television station.
