IT Computer Science and Engineering Degrees
If you are a left-brain thinker, skilled at math and science, you may wish to consider a career in the fields of IT, computer science or engineering.
All three of these areas are ones where new discoveries are being made all the time, so if you like a fast-paced, exciting, and a lucrative career, these
types of programs are well worth exploring. The field of information technology, or IT for short, involves the use of computers and telecommunications
devices for processing, storing, accessing and transmitting information in digital form. You can choose to earn IT degrees at the associate, bachelor's,
master?s and even doctoral levels, and can choose to specialize in areas such as networking or management information systems (MIS). If you prefer, you
can earn certificates in particular applications, such as C++ and Java. Computer Science is the study of the theory of computing, as well as of its
practical application. Degrees and programs in this discipline are also available at all levels, from the AAS level where you'll gain a basic knowledge of
programming and design all the way up through the PhD level where you can spend your time researching new ways to push the boundaries of computer
capabilities and take your place as one of the pioneers of 21st century computing. If designing new systems if your passion, they engineering is
the discipline for you. As a computer systems or electronic engineer, you could create new types of software or hardware, or pursue research in robotics.
Engineering degrees at the bachelor's, master's and PhD levels are also available in engineering specializations including mechanical, electrical, chemical,
environmental, agricultural, and civil (roads, bridges and buildings).
